St. Columba’s College Students to Represent UK at World Scout Jamboree in South Korea
We are thrilled to announce that two of our outstanding students, Ruairí and Oscar from Form 3, have been selected to represent the UK at the prestigious World Scout Jamboree in South Korea this July.
This remarkable opportunity will see them joining over 40,000 young people and leaders from 170 countries around the globe for an unforgettable three-week experience organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement.
The World Scout Jamboree is a grand event that takes place every four years, bringing together young minds from diverse backgrounds to foster cultural exchange, friendship, and global citizenship. Ruairí and Oscar will embark on their journey to Seoul, where they will have the chance to explore the city and immerse themselves in its rich history and vibrant culture before proceeding to the jamboree site on the picturesque coast at San Mae Geum.
For 10 exciting days, they will be part of the world’s largest youth camp, a melting pot of ideas and traditions, where they will collaborate with their peers in a wide array of individual and team activities. This dynamic environment allows the participants to learn from one another, share experiences, and build lasting connections that transcend borders.
It is worth noting that Ruairí and Oscar have shown incredible dedication and determination leading up to this momentous occasion. Over the past 18 months, they have tirelessly fundraised to cover the individual costs of their trip. Moreover, a significant proportion of the funds raised will be used to support scouts from developing countries, offering them the same life-changing opportunity to be part of this remarkable international gathering.
As St. Columba’s College, we couldn’t be prouder of our students’ achievements and their commitment to making a positive impact on the global stage. Their participation in the World Scout Jamboree not only highlights their exceptional qualities as individuals but also exemplifies the strong sense of community and empathy that our school instils in its students.
We wish Ruairí and Oscar the best of luck as they embark on this incredible journey of a lifetime. We are confident that their experiences at the World Scout Jamboree will shape them into even more compassionate and open-minded individuals, ready to make a difference in the world.
Let us all rally behind them and extend our heartfelt support and best wishes as they represent the UK and St. Columba’s College at the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. Go forth and we are so proud!
