CCF Earn Silver Placing in Intense 36-Hour Battle Exercise at Cambrian Patrol
In an impressive display of teamwork, resilience, and strategic thinking, the cadets from St Columba’s College have achieved a remarkable Silver placing in the prestigious Cambrian Patrol competition. The intense 36-hour battle exercise, held in the breath-taking landscapes of the Brecon Beacons, saw 20 teams competing for glory.
The award parade witnessed the recognition of outstanding performances, with 4 teams earning Gold, 5 teams securing Silver, and 11 teams taking home the Bronze. The CCF cadets, participating in this competition for the very first time, showcased their exceptional skills and determination, securing a well-deserved Silver placement.
The team, consisting of talented individuals, including Josh Watson, Grant Papesh, Marcus Passmore, Damon Passmore, Isaac Fullam, Matias Mustafa, Callum Hewett, and Ayden Mustafa, displayed remarkable leadership, adaptability, and composure throughout the grueling exercise. Their unwavering commitment to the mission and each other has been recognized and applauded by both their peers and mentors.
Supporting the cadets were two dedicated adults, John Hewett and David Doyle. Mr. Doyle, a member of the support staff at Harris Academy, Chafford Hundred, worked tirelessly to guide and mentor the cadets, ensuring they were well-prepared for the challenges they faced. Their expertise and commitment was instrumental in their success.
Patrick Burns, CCF Schools Staff Instructor and D of E Award Co-Ordinator – was disappointed unable to attend with the Cadets, but he was busy at the D or E expedition which was also very successful!
The cadets expressed their gratitude for the invaluable support and guidance they received, which enabled them to overcome obstacles and achieve their impressive result. The team’s achievements not only highlight their individual skills but also demonstrate the strength of the training and mentorship provided by our CCF leaders.
Looking towards the future, the cadets are already setting their sights on next year’s Cambrian Patrol competition. Buoyed by their Silver placing and eager to build upon their success, they are determined to continue honing their skills, refining their strategies, and pushing their limits even further.
The Columban community joins in celebrating this extraordinary accomplishment, recognizing the dedication, discipline, and perseverance of the cadets and their mentors. Our cadets should be proud of this achievement, showcasing the power of teamwork, commitment, and the pursuit of excellence.
