Foodbank and Hygiene Bank Appeal
The St Columba’s annual Foodbank Appeal drive saw a wide array of donations collected which weighed in in excess of one tonne. Sixth Form students visited the foodbank to develop a better understanding of the work that they do and how their donations would be used. The Appeal traditionally raises supplies for the Borehamwood Foodbank, although this year, on recommendation of Daisy Cooper MP, there was a significant donation to the St Albans Hygiene Bank as well.
College Headmaster, Karl Guest, speaking in relation to all the donations that the College raised as part of the Lenten Appeal, said, ‘The College’s charism, and that of all the schools we are associated with, speaks of the importance of missionary spirit – supporting those who are in greater need than ourselves and teaching our young people to care about the importance of social justice in the process.
‘I am proud of all those who led and took part in these events, and hope that they took valuable lessons from it which they will be put into practice again in the future.’
‘As ever, your amazing donation will go a very long way to help us in our important work serving the most vulnerable people in Borehamwood and the surrounding communities. Your donation is truly valuable and will make such a difference, helping many households who are currently suffering from hardship in our area.’ Judith, Operations Director at Borehamwood Foodbank
