At St Columba’s College, education extends far beyond the classroom. Our rich and varied co-curricular programme plays a vital role in developing confident, curious and well-rounded young people.
Alongside academic study, pupils enjoy opportunities in sport, music, drama, creative arts, STEM clubs, leadership and community service, as well as an extensive programme of trips and visits. With over 250 trips and visits offered across a pupil’s time at the College, learning is enriched through real-world experience.
In the Prep School, pupils are encouraged to explore, create and grow beyond the classroom. Residential trips build independence and confidence from an early age, while a wide variety of co-curricular activities nurture curiosity and creativity. Pupils can take part in early-stage drama, including LAMDA programmes, develop musical skills, and enjoy sport, including athletics, swimming, football, rugby and fencing, helping them to discover new talents and develop practical, creative and collaborative skills in a supportive environment.
In the Senior School and Sixth Form, pupils benefit from subject-specific and enrichment opportunities such as Iceland for Geography, adventure experiences in France, basketball tours to the United States, a Classics trip to Pompeii, and service partnerships in Zambia. Drama continues to flourish through LAMDA programmes and stage productions, while music offers performance in orchestras, jazz, rock and samba ensembles, as well as solo and chamber opportunities. Pupils can also explore practical and creative subjects, including art, textiles, photography and food technology, and take part in sport, including athletics, swimming, football, rugby, netball, basketball and fencing. The College proudly ranks among the top 200 schools for sport in England.
Inclusive and accessible from Prep through to Sixth Form, our co-curricular programme ensures that every pupil has the opportunity to discover passions, develop talents and grow in confidence. Through these experiences, we nurture not only academic success, but character, compassion and a lifelong love of learning.
