Form 4 Students Generate Over £20,000 in Community Value Through Duke of Edinburgh Volunteering
St Columba’s College is celebrating an outstanding achievement from our Form 4 Duke of Edinburgh cohort, whose dedication to community service has generated over £20,000 worth of social value in just a few months.
Despite the pressures of their GCSE year, this enthusiastic group committed themselves to regular volunteering across the local community, completing their placements with maturity, reliability, and minimal fuss. Over the past 3–6 months, students have supported a wide range of organisations, including charity shops, care homes, animal shelters, sporting clubs, and our own Prep School.
The feedback received from these organisations has been consistently positive, praising the students’ attitude, helpfulness, and willingness to get involved. Their collective contribution has now been formally recognised, with the attached certificate confirming the impressive £20,000+ social value created through their service.
This achievement is a powerful reflection of our pupils’ character, compassion, and commitment to making a difference beyond the classroom. It also highlights the strength of the Duke of Edinburgh programme in developing independence, responsibility, and a sense of civic duty.
A huge well done to Leo Crosskey, Vivaan Banerjee, Callum Cowen, William Preece, Freddie Fenton and Jake Geale for their fantastic contribution to this remarkable achievement.
