It is designed to identify pupils who will thrive academically, socially and personally within the College’s Catholic ethos and nurturing environment. The process aims to build strong relationships with prospective families, providing them with the information and support needed to make an informed decision. Prep School

For applications to Year 1 and 2 we ask for a copy of your child’s most recent school report, and a confidential reference will be sought from the child’s school. We will conduct an age appropriate assessment for your child during a working school day and they will also have the opportunity to meet and get to know their prospective class and teacher.

Admission to our Prep School Reception class is by an informal structured play session where your child will spend approximately an hour with us, and will be put at ease and made to feel very welcome by our staff.

Your application is confirmed with a non-transferable application fee of £90.

Please note, we do not offer an option to defer the offer of a place to a later year.

Senior School

Entry to our Senior School is through an assessment, which takes place at St Columba’s College, along with a face-to-face structured interview.

We will also require a confidential reference and your child’s most recent school report from their current school.

Sixth Form

St Columba’s College Current Year 11 Students
At St Columba’s College we believe strongly in the journey continuing through to age 18, so we do not ask for a formal application from our Form 5/Year 11 students. In mid-October, the Headmaster will write to all students in Form 5 who we feel will be suitable for A Level studies and will offer them a conditional place for the following September dependent on achieving the required grades. These students will be asked for their A Level and AAQ selection by early November, in order to confirm their place into our Sixth Form.

External Applicants
All external applicants must complete the Sixth Form application form and provide a copy of their latest school report. A confidential reference will also be sought from the candidate’s current school.

Applicants who are successful at the application stage will be invited to attend an interview with our Head of Sixth Form, Mr Waters.
