St Columba’s College is delighted to announce another set of excellent A Level results with, once again, well over a quarter of the cohort receiving at least three A grades and 22% receiving at least one A* grade. These results are testament to the hard work and determination of all our students, together with the support of our devoted teaching staff, who remain committed to academic excellence and a holistic education.
Some of our top achievers include: Alec, with an A* grade in Biology and A grades in Chemistry and Mathematics, who will be studying Biology at the University of Oxford; Adam, with A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Design Technology, who will be studying Structural and Architectural Engineering at the University of Bath; William, with A* grades in English Literature and History and an A in Religious Studies, who will be reading Politics and Philosophy at the London School of Economics; and Annabel, whose A* grade in Geography and As in Biology and Religious Studies, have secured her a place at Warwick University to read Liberal Arts. We are also delighted with the performance of Anton; with A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, and an A in Chemistry, he will proceed to Imperial College London to study Computing.
As we enter the new academic year, our students will be pursuing a wide range of disciplines in many different locations in America, Europe and the UK. Columbans will be studying courses as diverse as Accounting and Finance, Cyber Security, Psychology, Medicine, War, Peace and International Relations, and Law. In addition to degree courses, we are also very proud of those who have secured competitive places on apprenticeship schemes.
Behind the headline figures are several success stories of students who have overcome personal challenges to achieve results that belie their difficult journeys. The resilience and fortitude shown by these students has been a privilege to behold.
We offer our congratulations to all our Upper Sixth students and wish them every success in their future endeavours as they embark on their exciting career paths. The values they have imbued in their time at St Columba’s College will help them make an important contribution to the progress of society and to the service of others.
