Admissions Process
The purpose of our admissions strategy is, as much as is ever possible, to ensure that the potential of each child seeking entry into the College has the ability and aptitude to engage with the academic nature of the curriculum.
They must be able to thrive in an academic offering. We want that educational journey to be through to eighteen years of age whatever the stage of entry.
We believe that we are the best fit for those individuals of average to above average intelligence given the standard offering to all students will be at least eight GCSEs and at least 3 A-Level courses as a norm.
However, in keeping with the mission to provide a holistic education what also has to be a factor is how the child might actually engage with all aspects of the College life. In trying to assess this potential we look to develop a rounded picture beyond the scholastic, in terms of engagement, involvement and participation, a general sense of how they might benefit and contribute to the school. The offer of a place will also take into account recent reports and a reference provided by the current school.
To complete the holistic picture for us to judge suitability, each student is interviewed by a member of staff who explores aspects of personality and character. The most significant principle in operation remains will the child access the curriculum. The ability to do that means the navigation of the educational journey will be a fruitful, happy and successful one.
