SCC Student Exchange to Lyon

Senior School Trips

After this year’s group of students from our partner school, Les Chartreux, came for their very successful visit in April we were looking forward to returning to Lyon at half-term to see them again. After an early start and a great breakfast on the train down through France we were met by our exchange partners, and their teachers at Part Dieu station to begin our week exploring this beautiful city.

Although it was interesting to spend some time in lessons at Les Chartreux, legitimately wearing whatever we wanted and avoiding homework for the entire week, the highlight of the trip was the time spent discovering the oldest and newest parts of the city. Pausing for a few moments outside the Maison Coindre to discuss the city’s links with our school, we then made our way through the modern centre to the vibrant Confluences district, where the Rhone river meets the Saône. The fantastic weather gave us plenty of reasons to enjoy a cold Orangina or an ice cream as we learned about the city, it’s history, art and culture.

The trip was an excellent way to learn some more French and to experience a week living with a French family. Well done to all of the boys involved.
