SCC to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most consecutive rugby passes

Columban Community Events

St Columba’s College will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive rugby passes on Wednesday 22nd November 2017. The passes must be made with a full size regulation rugby ball over a distance of five metres. The record currently stands at 279. The Prep school will be running a simultaneous event, in order to make the attempt a whole college event.

The Lower Sixth students have decided to organise this record attempt to raise substantial funds for the Brothers of the Sacred Heart mission, the Icon Hope home, in the Philippines.  The Icon Hope home takes in street children and works to re-educate them, rehabilitate them and aims to reconnect them with their families.

To raise funds, each student, throughout the college, will be given an individual sponsorship form for this world record attempt. The school has also launched a MyDonate page which can be found at:

Our promotional video about our world record attempt can be found on the FROG page:

We are also looking for commercial sponsorship so if you have any contacts who you think would be interested in gaining sponsorship rights please contact

Similarly, for the purpose of authenticating the record, we require at least 10 independent witnesses to attend for the whole event, including two qualified rugby referees.  If you think you know anyone that would be interested, please contact

We aim to make the event a real demonstration of the Columban community, not just by showing generosity, but also by bringing everyone together on the day of event. Parents, friends and Old Columban's are all warmly invited to come along and cheer us on, the event will begin at 12.00pm and there will be soft drinks on sale as well as a BBQ, all proceeds going towards the Icon Hope home. We are certain that the Columban community will rally around this cause and support our Brothers in the Philippines, while at the same time solidifying the Columban community.

If there are any queries, please contact  Further information can be found on the ‘World Record Attempt’ FROG page: and look out for news alerts on the school’s media!
