Lower Prep Tour de France

Prep School Events

The Lower Prep took part in the inaugural St Columba’s Tour de France and were blessed with some gorgeous weather. All boys brought in their own bikes or scooters and a helmet. They scooted or cycled the 12 stages starting in Champagne, moving through Lyon, up Mt. Blanc along the Cote D’Azur before a mountain stage in the Pyrenees and a stop at Lourdes. The final few stages took in the vineyards of Bordeaux and the orchards of Normandy before finishing along the Champs Elysees and enjoying a well-earned picnic in the shade of the Eiffel Tower. Boys completed their passports by carrying out a short task and receiving a stamp for successful completion. Tasks including drinking champagne (lemonade), playing boules, getting ready for the beach by lying on a beach towel, putting on sun cream and playing volleyball. In Marseille, boys had to listen to Le Marseillaise and in Lourdes boys needed to say the Hail Mary. They enjoyed a pancake in Brittany and some cider in Normandy. Yellow jerseys and gloves were awarded to the year group winners. A great day was had by all.
