Lenten Appeal

Senior School Academic

Over the Lenten period this year, the Lower Sixth students co-ordinated the ‘Lenten Appeal’ at SCC. The aim was to collect as many donations of food and toiletries as possible for the Borehamwood Foodbank, with each year group assigned certain items to bring in. All the donations amassed a large and impressive display in the Senior School Reception. Our appreciation goes out to boys from the lower years who helped weigh and date all of the items to be put on display.

At the start of the Easter holiday’s a group of Sixth formers went to the Trussell Trust Foodbank in Borehamwood, to deliver the donations. We are glad to report that St Columba’s College donated a huge amount to the Foodbank. The volunteers who were there that day said that they  would never have expected the school to be so generous in its donations, and one volunteer even said that they thought it would only be a couple of boxes. Collectively, we donated 675.1KG of food and toiletries. Single-handedly, the school gave one of the largest donations to the Foodbank. Our aim was to reach 500KG of donations, so we are extremely impressed with and grateful for the compassion of the staff, students and parents.
