World Duathlon Championships

Senior School

Sam Page, Upper Sixth, has qualified to represent Great Britain at the World Duathlon Championships for the U20 age category.

Duathlon is a run, bike, run event and he is two years younger than the maximum age of this category. It is being hosted in Penticton in Canada in August. In order to qualify he had to race at one of three qualifying races, finishing within the top 4. He successfully achieved this at a qualifying race on Oulton Park Track near Liverpool in March gaining the qualification required to compete at the World Championships. The race conditions were horrible with snow at the start and pouring rain throughout but despite this he managed to race well on the day. Some of the best GB athletes were at the race, looking to gain a qualification spot making the race fast and very tough given the conditions.

Sam is looking forward to training hard over the next few months both with the cross country squad at school and also on the bike at home. We wish him all the best and congratulate him on his achievement.
