Drama

The College offers wide opportunities for those students interested in Drama. The subject is studied at GCSE level and has proved to be a popular option, allowing students to develop group work and leadership skills, as well as exposing them to a wide variety of theatrical and literary genres. We are able to take advantage of existing facilities within the College to prepare performances, and we also enjoy strong relationships with two theatres in St. Albans for final presentations.

Extra-Curricular Drama is available to students from all year groups. Forms 1 to 4 perform each summer, usually at the Maltings Arts Theatre, preparations for which begin around February half-term. We work in conjunction with Loreto College which allows us to expand the repertoire and in recent years we have produced a wide range of plays.

The Extras is the College's flagship theatre company. They perform at the Abbey Theatre, St. Albans each October after extensive rehearsals during the summer holidays and the first four weeks of the Michaelmas Term. We are supported by the girls from Princess Helena College and Loreto College in these ventures. Recent perormances have included 'Amadeus', 'Hamlet', 'Black Comedy, 'The Real Inspector Hound' and 'Great Expectations'.
