How do we spend the money we raise?
Recently funds raised by the Associations have been used to
finance:
· £13.500 for a new sound and projector system in the Prep school;
· £25,000 has been given towards financing the current refurbishment of the Senior School science laboratories;
· £2,500 to the charity CAFOD. The Associations have also donated money to the sister Schools in Zambia - St Francis and Shitima.
How to get involved?
The Associations set up small sub-groups which take on responsibility for
organising the different events and we always welcome parents who would like to help in any way at all.
If you would like any further information or would like to become involved please do contact:
For the Old Columbans’ Association - please see the link from the home page of the College website.
For Former Parents’ Association (coming soon) - please watch this space!
The Senior School Parents’ Association (SSPA) and the Prep Parents’ Association (PPA) are part of the Columban Association which also includes the Old Columbans’ Association and the Former Parents’ Associations.
The aims of the Parents’ Associations are:
· To assist the College in enhancing the Columban community spirit, for example having year group/house group representatives throughout the school, and helping organise a Welcome Barbecue in September each year;
· To organise events where pupils, parents and staff of the College can meet and get to know each other as members of the same community, including quiz nights, termly coffee mornings, a Christmas Ball and a Ladies’ night;
· To organise fundraising activities for projects to benefit the boys at the College including discos for Forms 1-3 in the Senior School, a sponsored bounce in the Prep School, a 200 (Prep) and a 300 (Senior School) Club, and having stalls at the annual College run Columban Fayre.
