The most able pupils are well known to staff and they are encouraged to develop higher order thinking and reasoning skills. ISI Report, January 2015

Our provision for gifted and talented pupils is an integral part of daily life, rather than an add-on.

In every subject, the boys are given the opportunity to perform at a high level, both within lessons and through co-curricular extension activities.

We do, however, also offer extension and enrichment to challenge the most able and excite the curious. This may be through one-off events, such as presentations by published authors and actors, talks from visiting clergy or performances from expert musicians. There are also competitions, such as the Junior Schools’ Maths Challenge, SATIPS General Knowledge Quiz, rugby tournaments and Inter-House Public Speaking.

The school also offers those with an aptitude termly clubs to foster enthusiasm, such as for science, chess or gardening. Our musicians perform in the school’s renowned Handbell Choir, as well as in the Chamber Choir, string groups and bands. Our sports teams are highly successful at every age group.
